PROGRAMMER/CODER NEEDED!

Posted by RileyVerse - December 8th, 2024

Hey y'all! While me and my pals have made progress on our run n' gun SNAPPENINGS, our programmer actually had to dip awhile ago to focus on college. This has left us without a coder which is, y'know, bad for a videogame.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A CODER/PROGRAMMER WHO CAN WORK WITH GODOT OR GAMEMAKER STUDIO!!

This is a passion project for fun, and there is no payment planned for anyone involved at this stage in development. I completely understand if that is a turnoff. I just cannot afford to pay any notable amount at this moment in time.

If this all sounds good to you, you can reach me at:

I'd help, but I've got some university exams ahead of me. I might reach out afterwards.

Couple of questions come to mind:
- What's the game's current progress?
- What are you using to manage the collaboration? How many members are in this team?
- There is no payment but you can not wait for your main programmer to come back, are you expecting steady work?
- You say "main" programmer, what are the "side" programmers doing?

Howdy! Thanks for the questions.

-Very early. This game has been a concept for YEARS, but development on it as a project is not all too far in. There is nothing playable.
-We have a dev discord where we work on the game. Me and another person tackle most of the main stuff of the project, including most of the art, music and concepts. We also have some
people who have contributed various pieces of art and music to the project.
-The programmer we did have got busy with college work and from that decided to leave the project to focus on it. They suggested getting a new programmer. Work does not have to be steady, as this is a passion project we've been working on.
-When I said main programmer I misspoke, my apologies. I just meant that we need someone who can be the team's resident programmer. There is no other coders on the project.

when u say godot OR gamemaker what do you mean, are you using godot or gamemaker you cant be using both. how far along is the project? how long do you plan the project to be? I'd be happy to help for a shorter project but if you're planning to make a full scale game I wouldn't be able to without payment

Hi! Apologies for my vague language. The project is earlier enough in development and progress to where nothing has been cemented in a playable build, hence me saying 'Godot or Gamemaker'. Godot is preferred.

We're looking to make a 2 level project as a demo/showcase, and then have it be something we can come back and expand on potentially down the line. Any expanded work would be paid.

We are looking to do 2 levels, 2 bosses and 3 similar but different playable characters.
